Create - Terms of Use

Shaker Heights Public Library policies, including the Code of Conduct and Acceptable Use of the Internet, apply to all library property and the use of library equipment.

Customers must sign in with library staff each time they enter the Tech Studio or The Workshop.

Use of the equipment is expected to be self-directed. Orientation, documentation (both online and on paper), and in-person training will be made available.

A maximum of two people may use the Recording Studio at the same time.

Only three customers may use equipment in the Tech Studio at the same time.

Appointments are limited to 3 hours when others are waiting and may be extended one hour at a time, with the exception of the Recording Studio which extends 15 minutes at a time.

The library reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a reservation.

Please be courteous and advise the library of cancellation as soon as possible so others might use the space.

Reservations are held for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes the space may be booked for others waiting.

Please avoid disturbing others’ use of the equipment. The door of the Recording Studio must remain closed during a session. The Recording Studio is sound-dampening, but not sound-proof.

Shaker Library does not accept responsibility if a customer’s personal property or project is destroyed or damaged, does not transfer or print correctly, or does not work.

Food and drink are not permitted in The Workshop or the Tech Studio.

Customers should use the Creation Spaces in a courteous, reasonable, and responsible manner.

Shaker Library reserves the right to halt, delete, or disallow the creation of items that violate library policy, including illegal items.

Customers may not use the equipment for projects that are inappropriate in a public setting or that create a disturbance.

Customers will follow all applicable intellectual property laws, including all copyright laws. Customers are responsible for obtaining their own protections for any intellectual property developed in the Creation Spaces.

Supervision by library staff does not constitute knowledge, or acknowledgement, of the final use of any product created, nor of the lawful status of said products; Shaker Heights Public Library specifically disclaims any knowledge thereof.
