Personal Communication or Entertainment Devices

Cell phone users are asked to turn ringers off and to converse quietly and briefly on them while inside the library.  Earphones or similar equipment should be used by customers who wish to use audio functions on computers, mobile devices, game consoles, or other devices.

Public Wireless Internet Access

The library provides free, unsecured, wireless Internet access for public use. The library does not provide technical support for privately owned personal wireless devices. Security for personal wireless devices rests solely with the owner of the wireless device. Personal use of the library’s public wireless access will conform to policies regulating other types of public Internet access provided by the library.

Customers are prohibited from using the library’s wireless Internet access to display text or graphics that may be considered obscene or harmful to minors, pursuant to state and local laws.

Printing

Remote and mobile printing from personal devices are available at a nominal fee via networked printers.  Library cardholders may print a limited number of pages per day at no charge.

Electricity

A limited number of electrical outlets are available near several seating areas, and customers are welcome to plug in their laptops or other personal electronic devices.  However, power cords and other cables may not obstruct traffic, seating, or tables.

The Shaker Heights Public Library is not responsible for loss of data or damage to personal equipment that may result from the use of its electrical outlets.
