Resources for Teachers

Educator Cards

Shaker Library offers Educator Cards, which enable teachers to borrow up to 100 Shaker Library items for three weeks with no fines for overdue children’s items.

Cards are issued free of charge to educators who provide proof of employment at a school or licensed preschool or daycare facility (e.g. valid pay stub within the past 30 days or a valid school ID badge) along with a current government issued photo ID. Cards expire on July 31 each year and can be renewed.

Extended Loans

Shaker Library materials to be used in the classroom may be loaned to teachers for up to six weeks depending upon availability. Check with staff in the Youth Services Department to see if an extended loan can be arranged for the specific materials you need.

Book Requests

Teachers may request several books on a specific topic or multiple copies of one book for classroom use depending upon availability. The staff in the Youth Services Department is happy to help you with these requests in person or over the phone.
