The library provides photocopiers for public use for a nominal fee.
Printing from Public Workstations
The library provides networked printers so that customers can print documents from the library computers for a nominal fee. A color printer is available in the Main Library Computer Center and at the Bertram Woods Branch.
Faxing and Scanning
The Library provides faxing for a nominal fee at the Main Library. A scanner is available for free at the Main Library.
Community Entrepreneurial Office (CEO)
The Library offers a Community Entrepreneurial Office (CEO) at the Main Library. CEO users have access to the business equipment and services they need, along with ready access to Shaker Library’s reference and information resources. (This venture was made possible through an LSTA entrepreneurial grant from the State Library of Ohio.)
The CEO offers office space that CLEVNET library cardholders can reserve to meet with clients and to carry out business. Each work area has a computer workstation equipped with software. Through the CEO, the Library offers print services and volume copying, including folding and lamination, for a fee. Office space within the CEO can be reserved on an hourly, weekly, or monthly basis. Through the CEO, the Library`s Training Lab with 12 workstations and an interactive white board is available for rental.
Proctoring is available free of charge. The student should make arrangements for the proctored test with Adult Services staff. The Library may not be able to meet the proctoring requirements for all institutions. In most instances the Library can provide a quiet area or small study room for testing, although the Library cannot guarantee quiet conditions. The Library cannot provide a proctor if the librarian is required to be with the student during the entire exam.
The Library provides a public computer workstation with word processing software and Internet access for online exams. These workstations do not allow the installation of any additional software. It is the test-taker’s responsibility to ensure that the Library’s computer resources are adequate for their test-taking requirements. Proctors are unable to monitor test taking at library computers.
Tests can be received or returned through the mail, by e-mail or by fax. The student or the student’s institution is responsible for the cost of postage when mailing tests to the student’s institution. The library can also receive tests from delivery services such as FedEx or UPS. The library is not a regular pick-up site for FedEx or UPS. Generally they visit the library at least weekly and students are welcome to have tests returned via FedEx or UPS. However, the library cannot guarantee when the tests will be picked up or a specific delivery date.
The Library is not responsible for completed tests that are not received by the student’s institution. It is the student’s responsibility to contact the institution to determine if the completed test was received.
The library provides Voter Registration and Absentee Ballot Request forms, and will transmit registration forms to the Ohio Secretary of State’s Office or the Board of Elections.
Golden Buckeye Cards
Ohio residents who are at least 60 years old or disabled can register for a Golden Buckeye card at the library. Staff members must verify proof of age or disability in accordance with the instructions on the registration form. Completed forms are faxed to the State of Ohio at no charge to the customer; no copies of completed forms are retained at the library.
Customers applying for the state-issued Golden Buckeye card may also wish to update their Shaker Library account information at the Circulation Desk to take advantage of Golden Buckeye privileges at the library.
Income Tax Forms
State and local tax forms are generally available at the library, and library staff can help customers access federal, state, and local income tax forms online. Regular printing fees apply. Library staff cannot give tax advice.
